Sample Itinerary

The following itinerary is recommended as a guide only.  Track and weather conditions will inevitably determine the final journey of each individual trek.

Meeting Point:

Participants will meet at 10am in the Evans lookout carpark ready to deaprt at 10.30 am.

Getting There:  It’s about 2 hours 20 minutes from Sydney.  Take the Great Western Highway from Sydney traveling through Springwood, Lawson, Wentworth Falls, Leura , Katoomba, Medlow Bath. Take the Evans Lookout Road turn off (highlighted on brown signpost) between Medlow Bath and Blackheath.

Trek Overview:

The day begins with a pre-day briefing covering safety; expectations; gear check; posture adjustments and advice; water consumption; energy maintence and stability etc....

We then set off down the valley track.  It's an easy grade to start with followed by some intensity in the afternoon. We walk for about 4 hours before stopping for lunch overlooking Govetts Creek.  After some technical presentations, we walk further in to the forest for about 3 hours until we arrive at the campsite.  Everyone assists in setting up the tents before enjoying a well earned swim in the river.

Dinner tonight is round the campfire where we share some our experiences with the group. After dinner, we switch on our torches and walk through the bush to give particpants the opportunity to experience the bush at night before retiring for the day.

Trek Overview: 

It's an early morning start to the day so we can complete the trek by 4pm.   

After breakfast we will pack up the campsite and depart along the lower track through the valley. The intensity of this walk varies from medium to high towards the end of the track.  As you climb up through the majestic valley you will have the opportunity to stop occassionally along the way and look back at your amazing achievement.

Debrief:   

On completion of the weekend trek, participants will receive individual and group assessment, feedback and recommendations to keep you "on track" for your trekking adventure.
